J.R/King vs. Cole/JBL vs. Tazz/Styles

I noticed this in another thread a thought that it should be it's own topic.

I still get enthralled by JR and King. I don't give a shit what people say but JR is a legend and helped some of the greatest matches of all time in the WWE be even greater. How many main events at WM has JR been money on. Great calls and great lead ins.

I agree with most of you with the fact that JR is getting old but he is still better to me than Michael Cole. Michael Cole stll has these tendencies that piss me off when he calls a match. At least 3-4 times during the course of a match, there will be a big move. For example, "Oh no! Batista Bomb! That's it, its over.....1.....2.....OMG Undertaker kicked out." This is a good call but he even uses it when someone hits a simple move like a DDT or a suplex. He overuses it and it gets annoying.

JBL on the other hand is a terrific heel color guy. I thought he had a great WM debut at announcing and would enjoy him very much if he would get flipped to RAW.

As for Tazz and Styles.............well they suck.

Cole and JBL. And not even nessarcerely because of JBL. Smackdown is the better show anyway so it's always more enjoyable, and Cole has improved a little by being with John. JBL's talk about the glory days of wrestling really enthrall me. He's always talking about E&C, Japan, The Dudleyz, TLC matches, The days of Harley Race, the Attitude Era and the like which none of the others do (and when JR does he forgets what he was talking about and goes back to "BAH GAWD")

JR and King are stale as hell right now. They were such a good team in 199/2000 but now king is an annoying face and JR is the same tired old cowboy gimmick he always was. It's well know he hates the gimmick and it shows, his real voice often comes out over that ridiculous shouting. I stil like JR though. King is god awful, as a heel commentator he was excellent, but when Coach came in they made Lawler a face and never changed him back. Bad move IMO. I wish Coach was still announcing. Heel Vs Face announce teams just work. Heenan and JBL both prove that with their work with face announcers.

Taz and Syles call a 1 hour show and do it badly. Taz was a great commentator in 2000, really quite funny when he would announce Rikishi as weighing 2000000 pounds and shit like that. He was also voted commentaor of the year in 2004. Styles was a great in ECW but now he is just a watered down jabroni. Even when he called Tabboo Tuesday in 2005 he was great. Then he got watered down and watered down until he resembled a wet fish. Taz and Styles are held back but listening to them is god awful.

JBL and Cole win this one for me.

I've always like JR and The King so i'm going with them. At times i like JBL and Cole, but i don't like the way they talk about the women, and i don't watch ECW so i can't say much about Styles and Tazz. I did like Tazz on SD though. So again, King and JR.

I agree with you on this part definitely. I voted yes for JR and King mainly for nostalgic reasons. I never was a fan of when King became a face announcer. Frankly I don't even remember when it happened by they WERE the best when he was a heel. I completely agree that matches are more entertaining when there is a heel, face commentating combo. Hopefully Coach gets another run at announcing because it is much needed.

This is also why i think Tazz and Styles are stale is because they are both face. Just like you mentioned, Tazz was an awesome funny, almost heel, witty announcer when he was with SD. If he was that again then ECW might be bearable to watch.

I don't watch either WWECW or Raw so I have to go with JBL and Cole. I've never thought Cole was that bad and JBL is a great heel announcer. JBL alone is better than the other 2 shows' announcers' put together. He is funny and provides a lot of info from the past. JR and King aren't bad but they are past their prime and should retire. Taz is okay and I've never like Styles as a play-by-play guy cuz he's always screaming. But overall announcing isn't that important to me when watching wrestling but Smackdown's team would win.

King and JR for me basically like others nostalga. I mean honestly when you think of RAW immediatly who comes to mind? JR and King, they have been the voice of RAW for many years and have called amazing matches. And I wouldnt have it any other way. JR to me is an amazing color commentator he's just really good at what he does.

Cole and JBL suck I can't stand Cole's voice it drives me insane.

Joey Styles is fucking terrible now, he was the man when he was in the real ECW but now he is jsut another product of WWE watered down and as stale as communion crackers in a church.

and don't get me started on Taz that no talent ass. He needs to either get the proper sergery and get his ass back in the ring or find another day job.

Joey Styles- meh...never liked or cared for his commentating

JR and King- King is fucking even more annoying now, and him and JR aren't what they used to be. JR was great and is still good

JBL and Cole- These two are just great to listen to. JBL knows his wrestling and talks it and also say great things while he commentates(ex. Insults). Cole is alright, and not as bad as he used to be.

What I want is JBL and JR to do some commentating together.

For some reason I've always liked Cole, just because of what he done and I think he is a great commentator, but he's still not used to commentating in a wrestling enviornment. He doesnt know how to call and move and tell a story at the same time which is what you have to be able to do and to me it doesnt seem like he's an avid wrestling fan, I'm mean I know he's been in the business for some years, but he doesnt seem like the kinda of person who would know the in's and out's of the wrestling world and it's politics.

I do enjoy watching Cole/JBL on SD! because they entertain me and JBL always keeps me interested in whatever he's saying and I find him hilarious.

I never ever like Jerry Lawler because I always found him annoying, I always get tired of hearing him week after week. But JR just has that voice that draws your attention, it's like when you watching a match and of course he's talking, but it's not as much distracting as if jerry was speaking. I respect JR so much for what he's done and when I do become a commentator I would want him to teach me everything he knows.

Personally who I would want to see as a team are Cole/Coach Cole/Jerry and JR/JBL I think this woul be great combos and interesting to see how they can work together.

JR and King for me. Again I agree it's better to have a face/heel combo. It's interesting but I cannot stand JBL. Cole's not as bad as he used to be but he's still an annoying piece of shit. And WWECW. Well I won't get into that. JBL can rot in hell for all I care. Yes JR and King do get annoying but not half as much as JBL/Cole for me. MC can also go to hell but it doesn't stop me from watching SD lol

Indubitably. You are so damn right about that. Styles set the standard of how a wrestling match is supposed to be called. And in my opinion...NOBODY will ever even come close to matching his greatness.

JR and King for me I just could not stand the 3 man team of Styles Coach and King when JR was gone the chemistry between JR and King is top notch and juest makes Raw better. As for me I will go with Tazz and Styles for second they have good on screen chemistry too but it is hard to come across well when you have some low tier talent as they do. JBL and Cole are alright I just really don't care for Cole that much and I actually prefer JBL as an annoucer than as the WWE chump he was.
