What are you?

I consider myself a wrestling geek. Yes, i take my wrestling seriously. To me, it is a serious sport, well it used to be anyway back in the days. If you just watch for the entertainment bits (crude humour, divas etc.) then go watch celebrity death match on MTV or something.

Anyway, discuss.

Well Morsn argues that a wrestling fan is some one who just watches it for fun and that it doesn't matter if they have very bad wrestling skills, which is total nonsence. I mean, would you watch a comedy show for fun and say " I don't care if the jokes suck, I'm just watching it for fun"?

okay my knowledge isn't as wide and vast as someone but i would say I am more of the Wrestling Geek because I do know some about the indy scene and i love to judge the wrestling matches and watch for blown spots or as they would say in ECW you fucked up. lol I also do enjoy the comedy bits too for the most part but realize that is not what makes the show. finally i use to really dig the divas and there matches when i was a young immature teenager but also they had talent like Molly Holly, Victoria, Trish, and Lita there too. so who knows

^There's nothing wrong with liking the women, but people who watch wrestling just for them are stupid IMO. Why wrestling? It reminds me of the lurkers in the babes section. There are plenty of other options to see women dressing in revealing clothes ie. magazines etc. Or maybe they could try getting a real girlfriend?

I do too like my entertainment bits at some points, but not necessarily. Like my mum for example likes John Cena because she thinks his funny, and i try to reason with her 'he can't wrestle though' and she'll just reply 'but he's funny.' So she's an example of someone who likes it for the entertainment. But myself, i watch wrestling for wrestling.

Im am a Wrestling Geek. I look for talent in people, not promos but hey that is an added bonus but if they cant then it doesnt bother all that much. I dont really watch the Indys because i find nothing attractive about them, so i look for 1996-1999 because that is my favorite era of wrestling. Ill watch from New Japan, FmW, wCw and WwF.

im a wrestling geek

i can appreciate promos but id rather have someone be able to put on a good match before there abel to use a mic. i can appreciate tyrue wrestlign but im bored by some of the ROH stuff.

i dont get why people think thta spots suck or being a spot monkey is bad. spots are good because it takes a certain level of skill/creativity to do them well. doing a spot is liek doing a promo. its gotta have a certain level of originality and take a certain level of skill to pull it off corectly. theres a science to doing spots, just like everything else.

but dont think im all about spots case im not.

im definatley a wrestling geek due to the sheer fact that im an active member on an online wrestling forum. i read all the wrestling tabloids on the internet. and i have a good collection fo wrestling dvds/videos in my house.

I would consider myself a wrestling geek but yet I don't really follow or find out much about ROH or CZW or anything else that basically isn't really mainstream. I just don't have time to follow all of them and appreciate their differences. I have watched WCW, WWF, the original ECW and now WWE (believe me people, WWF and WWE are 2 different times).

I still find myself watching for the wrestling such as being super excited to see Chris Benoit on RAW despite him wrestling John Cena. I don't know, I have been watching wrestling for like 13 years, I know the works and who is "in" and who is "out".

I always felt that a good test is this: Watch wrestling with someone else that like never watched it before like ever. For example my g/f and my cousin had never watched WWE before. They watch RAW with me every monday now and we get a few PPVs. If you find yourself getting pissed off at them when they claim, "Oh that's fake," or "That didn't really hurt" then your are a wrestling geek because your taking offense to something you know is hard to do.

A wrestling fan is the one trying to figure whats real and whats fake and not taking time out to see that it is bigger than what is real and not real.

same here

Okay first off, you need to stop posting like that, it is annoying. State your own opinion on it and dont just quote someody and go "Agreed" or "Same Here". It is a fucking waste of the time of the people who read the thread. A Wrestling Geek would state their own opinion on a subject and prvide great details as to why they watch the sport, Wrestling fans only type one to two word replies.

mic174 hit it on the head there that the main reason i liked the divas was the same as the lurkers here but i did take a likeing to lita becuase she was kick ass as esse rios or how ever you spell it lol now i just turn the channel when the divas have a match.

I would say I'm a wrestling geek but not as much as some people. I don't get all the ROH/OVW kinda stuff like development. And I don't watch ECW or TNA. WWE is really the first thing I got into. I like my spots and entertainment probably a lot more than is needed and sometimes I can be a big mark unneccessarily but I can appreciate some good wrestling. Wrestling is not EVERYTHING to me. That's why there is an E in WWE. But I can understand where people are coming from when they say there were too many promos on that show and things like that, example last week on Raw when Trump Mcmahon was the main event. And sometimes it's the placement of the promos not always because there are too many.(Look above) Because I also like to see some good matches. Notice I did not say horrible :)

Wrestling Geek I guess. I'd hate that to be associated me being a no fun smark. But I highly disagree with that dumbass assesment of not caring if someone sucks in the ring. If they can't wrestle, I don't like them. Wrestling is Wrestling and if you can't wrestle I have no respect for them being in the ring. Mic skills are important too, if a guy isn't a good wrestler then he has to have good mic skills to even it up. But if they don't have those either then that's just fucking stupid. If you can't wreslte and have no mic skills you shouldn't be in wrestling.

The phrase contradicts itself and makes little sense.

When i was introduced to wrestling as a kid, i always watched it because i thought all the promos were cool and i like seeing the heels get beat. Now that I'm older now i still enjoy watching the promos, but I like to judge the wrestlers now and how good they are. So i consider myself a wrestling geek.

i always have loved wrestling, since i was a little kid and stuff, i really enjoy watching a true pure wrestling match like for xample angle vs hbk at wm,but whatever, my point is, the fact that i love wrestling and can recognize skilled wrestlers, makes me a wrestling geek? what about if despite of the fact that i love wrestling i also enjoy promos, spots and have fun sometimes wathcin stupid feuds like mcmahon vs lashley, does that makes me a wrestling fan? i can only say that, that clasification is just ridiculous. (no personal, no flamming).

i view wreslting as a sport too but i love the science of workign a crowd. weather its on the mic or in the ring or the story line in general seeing what works and what doesnt work is interesting to me.

ive been involved in all kinds of performances and working a crowd ic really cool to me. thats what i look for in wrestling. what movves willget a pop, how to get that true ehat, how to make a crowd rute for you. its all good to me. however if peopel cant wrestle they shoudlnt be here. no matter whta kind of pop they can get.

EDIT!
i dotn liek hwo iworded thta but its late and im tired. its not what i look for t what i pay attention to.

I would say im a wrestling geek always have since a lil kid sure i enjoy some of the promos but I mostly watch for the actual wrestling and hate the people who call it fake as they put lots of work in to it and I bet half of them couldn't do a wrestlers schedule for a week. I've grown up with amazing wrestling wwf, wcw and ecw the 90's was my era sure I hate 50% of wwe roster but theres 50% there that impress me and show how hard they work where they are so I say im a wrestling geek and dam proud of it.

I like good promos sometimes. I enjoy shit like Taz promos, but not all of them and I always enjoyed the mic work of guys like Shane Douglas or Cactus Jack. I hate everything the WWE and TNA has been doing lately with promos and shit, it all blows. Guys like Randy Orton and Samoa Joe shouldnt even be in the same building with a microphone. That shit makes me hate mic work.

Not to sure where i stand. I agree wrestling is a(should be a) sport but it has been a long time since the major companies treated it as one. I just cant see how when the winner has been decided before the match it can be called a sport. i know that is a contradiction.
I love the pantomine that is professional wrestling(wwe). I find it funny and entertaining. To be honest i dont see this as sport.
As i have said in other posts the coverage of wrestling in ireland is pish so i dont have much to compare.
If wrestling is on i watch it (no matter what brand). I like the mat wrestling (greek/roman) which you see on euro sports now and again. So i take it i am a geek.
