They weren't married to Matt Hardy. People didn't boo her for sleeping with Edge, they booed her cause she cheated on her husband (who was a fan favorite) with his "best friend" (who was a heal)

It was a combonation of Matt Hardy's need to make it a public thing and the fact that WWE creative decided to run with it as an angle. They decided to blur the line between reality and Kayfabe.

Sucks for Lita, but that's what happen when your in a "high profile" relationship.
