Me and a few of my friends do Backyard Entertainment lol. Everything we do is scripted and worked out before we go out there. We have personas and have a few DVD's with our matches. We are trying to be as safe as possible.
And no, i don't have a huge ass fake ring sitting in my backyard AND no, every match does not involve a table or hardcore moves, 75% of the time its straight wrestling.

i have a ring in my friends yard. its fun to put on our own little shows. we had 80 people come to one event once and we promote by word of mouth only. we usually average around 50. im thinkin of joining wrestling schools on a few years.

makeshift rings arent bad if built rite my friend.
the one i built with my friends consists of cheap materials
layer1- scrap wood layed out on ground to create a level platform
layer2+3- box springs and there matching mattresses (we drove around and picked them from the garbage.
layer4- 3/4 inch thick plywood connected withother scrap wood
layer5- padding. theres so many different paddings you can use. we lined the the edges of the plywood with the foam connector squares they sell for play pens. on top of that is some carpet padding.
layer6- canvas. we got some painters canvas from lowes and sewed it together. if your good with art and paint its reall easy to paint on some graphics.
the posts and ropes are the hardest part. we originally had 12 foot 4x4's that were dug into the ground and cemented so that only 7 feet were sticking out. once you put turnbuckles on these an tightens the ropes they will bend to hell. once you climb them they will snap. we replaced them with fence posts. huge steel poles we foudn in a junkyard. we cemented them into the ground and filled them with cement. MAKES SURE TO DRILL IN THE TURNBUCKLES BEFORE YOU CEMENT!
the rope is regular boating we rope we bought at a boat store.
liek i said its really easy except for the posts. making sure there level and shit is a bitch.

thanks for all the props ont he ring. couldnt have done it without all my friends. ive lost track of price.its prob aroudn 1000$ but we take donations and make profits of of merch at our shows to fudn the ring.. as for the man hours it takes a lot. the less money you wanna spend the more time your gunna spend lookin for the supplies in peopel garbage and junkyards. its also good to ahve connections. my dad hooked us up with free lumber from his job. my other friends dad works in construstionc so he hooked us up with free cement and screw and shit. and we all happaned to eb handy guys and after a few different designs we got this one.
as for the ropes:
they work. depends how big you are. im the biggest guy that goes off the top and im about 200lb. when im standing on the tope rope the posts bend and the rope drops a few inches buts its still good. one of the wrestlers is 235 and hes gone off the 2nd. they are fine to bounce off of but if you shirtless they give a nasty burn.
for more pics of the ring in action go here. http://www.geocities.com/BAWsupersite/
shit if rogot to mention that the yard its in was once a hell hole. my friends parents had no regard for the appearance of the house so he said that he would have us clean it all up if they let us put the ring there. thats why theres no grass. we had to rent a full size dumpster to clean it all out. thats were alot of the scrap wood came from. if i had pics of the yard before we cleaned you people wouldnt believe its the same place.

well we knew a few backyard feds who were def doing it all wrong. so just tried to not be like them. we also try to be original and i really hate being called a backyard wrestler. it immediatley implies that we dont know moves and we jump off of house into flaming piles of tacks glass and light tubes. yea we use tables. and theres an occasional tack. but tacks dont hurt.

^^ Whats the biggest spot that you ever did + what was the biggest f-up you ever had>
My biggest spot was I was on my garage roof (its only like 10feet off the ground) and me and Rayzer (other guys name) were fighting and he was scripted to throw me off the roof onto this hidden mattress on the ground. One problem, I overshot the mattress when he threw me and i slammed into the ground and buckled me knees and everything. I was fine, no hospital or anything but both my legs were black and blue.

worst mess up i ever did was in a three way ladder match for two different tittles. it was a few miuetes into the match and the crowd was chanting for tables. so i put a table in the corner and i went to powerbomb the yellow dart (another wrestler ive powerbombed plenty of times before) through the table. for some reason i couldnt get him for the bomb. then i fell down. i felt like an ass. so to redeeme myself i picked up len hardt(the other wrestler in the match,a bit smaller than the first one) and powerbombed him but the table wouldnt break. so i drop kicked him, it didnt break, the yellow dart did something to him, i t diddnt brake, i do the lowest cross body ever because hes slumping down and finally it half brakes. i felt like i ruined the match.
my biggest spot is this
14+foot splash through a table on the outside. (we dont have real tables so we use those crapy doors and put them saw horses or benches) the table was real low and my knees hit pavement before the rest of my body hit the table. that really sucked.

My biggest F-Up:
A few years ago i was supposed to jump off of the garage (10 feet high) onto the trampoline (8 feet away) then crossbody my friend off of the trampoline. Well i like fell off the garage barely hit the trampoline (i sliped on takeoff) and bounced ribs first onto the metal bar. Luckily nothing broke, just really black and blue

I like straight wrestling, but the hardcore looks cool too. I think if i had a taste and realised it really hurt like hell, then it'd stay with the normal kind. I really wish their was a wrestling group in my poor ass Iowa town.

Okay this spot happened when I was taking the head of another guy and was supposed o slam him into the wall. Apparently I lead him too much and he ended up smacking his head off a brick wall. He was too dazed to tell me the code word for when someone is really hurt and so i continued and smashed him in the head with a trash can. I felt real bad after doing so when he told me after the match
bawjustice
11-06-2006, 11:50 PM
oooo i dont remember this one that well cuz i fell on ym head!
it was in the middle of a match and i was stepping back into the ring. i had one foot in the ring(between top and middle rope) and the rest of me was out. the other guy ran over and tried to in ring supplex me. i told him you cnat do this but apparently i wasnt loud enough and he was too stupid to notice were my legs were. so he pikced me up for the supplex, i tried to shake him off but somehow he lifted me up and the ropes stoped me from going up. so i went down. down on to my head. other wrestlers though i broke my neck. i wont watch it on video cuz ill just get pissed at the perosn who did it to me.

^^^ that really sucks. well i backyard wrestle with 2 of my firends, i wish there were more ppl who would do it around here, and one time this one of my friends who is fuckign jacked cuz hes been working out sinece he was like 9 brought me up for a choke slam, held me up and then smashed my head down onto the metal bar(cuz we use a trampoline). and this other time i tried a super moosault (off of the trampoline) and missed. me and my little brother wrestle too (hes liek 8) and a few years ago my parents had this safe on the side of their bed, and i went to fall away slam him and i over shot the bed and he cracked his head on the safe.

Since i last posted i have done some since, only on a trampoline mind you, i didnt come up with a gimmick but i'd always be the heel. can do a wide variety of moves its also helped me to learn different moves too. Plus it helps having a really good friend who doesnt mind you doing the moves on him, just so long as you teack him some stuff too.

My main problem is my friend doesnt watch wrestling, so if i call a spot to him i have to explain it to him and at times it get tedious. But slowky but surely he's starting to get and even start watching wrestling, the only one he can get is WSX, which is cool but a variety of different promotions helps in the long run. As he's my best mate he's gonna support that but no one i know watches wrestling other then me. so at times it's hard.
Anyone know where you can buy ring ropes and turnbuckles for a 12' trampoline?
Cheer's
Carefree
bawjustice
04-27-2007, 07:13 PM
rign ropes are sodl through wrestlign companies like highspots but nylon boating rope works well
turnbuckles can be bought at any good hardware store like lowes or home depot
however
you have no idea how much tensio ropes&turnbuckle create
they would snap the aluminum tubing of a trampoline in half.
and im not jokeing
i would suggest constructing a steel frame structure aroudn your trampoline and firmly cement it into the ground.then put in the tbuckles and shit but its still gunna bend the poles alot. although you can build cross supports under the trampoline liek an actual ring. although you might bounc into them wich will suck.
Mattitude V1
04-27-2007, 07:25 PM
Thats what i wanted to do, find a place where you can find a readymade frame and shit like that. Cos im not very good with my hands lol. so building one would be out of the question lol.
bawjustice
04-27-2007, 07:35 PM
no ones gunna make a wrestlign ring adaption kit for a trampoline
the liability and lawsuits would be rediculous
