How come when it comes to there championship belt they all say NWA? I thought they wre over with cause i remember them being called NWA/TNA. What happned? Did they aquire the rights to use the NWA name or does NWA still back them up? I dont know i also think they should change the belts, the deisgmn of them is retarded and they need something that fits TNA.

I thought I read that the NWA just gave TNA the rights to use the belts.

Isnt TNA under the NWA now? I know that most of the NWA went to WCW back in the late 80s but I thought TNA was in the part that is still around. If you go to the NWA's website it is almost like TNA is their major league with all of the other groups under it. The only odd part of it is that no talent from other NWA organizations seems to move to TNA.

iam sure tna and nwa merged and nwa retained the right to the belts, thats why they are called nwa titles.

I dont know how the NWA is still around I thought they died out when Ted Turner bought the NWA and renamed it WCW. And WCW well we all know the story of them.

If TNA wants to stand out the first thing they should do is get rid of the NWA affiliation and make a TNA world heavyweight championship.

No when the WWE bought WCW, WCW was no longer part of the NWA. WCW left the NWA in 93 and the NWA pretty much lost all popularity. I could be wrong but I think the WCW bought some of the territories from the NWA. Also WCW basically gave the NWA their title back when they named their's the WCW title. But TNA is a member of the NWA and they do still have rights to use the title.

no in the early 90's they was still using the NWA titles at least the tag team cause The Hollywood Blonds was one had the WCW and the other had the NWA tag team belt. they even still had the NWA Title when the had the WCW world championship. Cause I remeber Sting being WCW champion and Barry Whindham being NWA champion.

This is the correct explanation. Turner merged the two, then, later left NWA and kept WCW as his promotion.

NWA is a trademarked organazation, therefore, Vince has no claim to it. Just because WCW used to be known as NWA doesn't mean anything. And if you've watched older wrestling from the old NWA, you will notice the belt they used is the same belt Jarrett has now. Further proving it.

^Your correct, this is the same title belt guys like Flair,Rhodes,Race ect...wore.It is also the same title belt Shane Douglass threw down when Eastern Championship Wrestling became Extreme Championship Wrestling.

yeah but the World title other wise known as the Big Gold Belt was the NWA world title. Dusty wasnt the WCw champpion he was the NWA champion right. His last title run he beat Flair in a cage and the belt he won was the Big Gold belt. They change the look of the belt from that ugly old belt that Booker has now. Why do you think WCw threw such a big fight over it when Falir took it to the WWE the first time when they blured it out.
